Hello everybody! I have been building the bathroom in my sisters house and I built a plank wall that needed a little pizzaz, but I wasn’t really in the mood to spend $50 for the size of wreath I wanted. So I looked into making my own and realized it was so so easy to make my own boxwood wreath! All you need is:
- Grapevine wreath (I got mine from Walmart for $5)
- Hot glue gun
- Scissors
- Boxwood garland (I got mine here)
I found a 9 foot garland online for $11 which is pretty dang good, but I still had to pay for shipping so I got a couple of them so I could make more than one wreath. If you’re really looking to save money and you have access to a boxwood shrub, all you need is a little bit of time, patience and glycerin to preserve your own boxwood. Then you can make as many as you want! Tutorial on that coming soon.
Okay, so the process is real simple. First, you’re gonna grab your garland and some scissors.
I cut each bushel off of the main vine. Next, put a little bit of hot glue on the end of each bushel.
Then stick a few more…
And a few more!
One thing I would recommend is to distribute them fairly sparsely throughout the wreath at first, and then you can keep going around the circle filling in the empty spots just in case you run out of bushels. As you can see, I didn’t do that. My first attempt looked a little heavy on one corner and sparse on another so I had to pull some of the glued ones off and redistribute them.
And there you have it! I think I may add a burlap bow onto it to add to the rustic flow, but I like how it turned out! If you make one for yourself, leave your comment below and let me know how it went!
