My 2024 Classic Fall Front Porch Decor

This year, I’m going all out with pumpkins and mums for my fall front porch decor. I wanted that classic fall feeling to hit as soon as you walk up to the door. Inside, I’ve sprinkled a little Halloween magic with bats and floating candles, but for the front porch, it’s all about cozy, timeless autumn vibes!

We expanded the front porch over the summer, adding a seating area off to the side. Now I have so much more room to decorate compared to last year! Even though the weather’s still a little warm, I just couldn’t wait to start putting up my fall front porch decor.

Planters and Baskets

These concrete planters are perfect year-round! Over the summer, I used the taller versions with topiaries, but now I’ve switched to the shorter ones to complement my mums. Mixing different sizes adds some variety and visual interest.

Pro tip: My planters were too tall for the mums, so I got creative and propped the plants up with some leftover bricks from our paver driveway expansion!

Baskets are another favorite of mine for fall front porch decor. They’re so versatile and easy to change with the seasons. I used a large basket for a magnolia tree and a smaller one for some mums. I like keeping things neutral with pops of classic fall colors, and even the black nursery pots blend in when I don’t have decorative baskets handy.

Of course, no fall porch is complete without a tower of pumpkins! I always choose a mix of sizes, colors, and varieties—everything from Cinderella to the bumpy Knuckleheads. I love them all!

On either side of my front door, I’ve placed faux magnolia trees that fit perfectly with the rest of the fall front porch decor. They add height without taking up too much space, and their colors are spot-on for the season. I’ve used both the 4-foot and 5-foot versions for added dimension.

The Front Door

Layered doormats are a must for my fall front porch decor. This year, I went big and used three! First, I laid down a linen-colored herringbone rug, topped it with a buffalo check mat (the ultimate fall neutral), and finished with a classic welcome mat that ties it all together with timeless style.

It’s been over a year since I painted our front door a moody dark grey, and I’m still so in love with it—especially paired with this gorgeous fall wreath!

Grouping My Fall Front Porch Decor

When grouping my fall front porch decor, I played with different heights, textures, and shapes. Mixing pumpkins, baskets, and planters keeps things visually interesting, and sticking to a classic autumn color palette makes it all feel cohesive. Even with a narrow walkway, I found space for a small bench surrounded by—of course—more pumpkins and mums!

Can you have too many mums and pumpkins in your fall front porch decor? I’m seriously thinking about adding even more. I think I may even have room for a few more over by the Adirondack chairs, so we’ll see!
