Classic and Tasty Carrots

Every single time I make these simple carrots for guests, I always get compliments, and it’s always a little perplexing. How could something so simple be THAT good? Maybe it’s that extra dash of love I put into it, but other than that I guess the secret is just regular old Italian seasoning. These steamed carrots are super simple and can be done from start to finish in about 20 minutes. I can’t wait for you to give it a try!

Servings 6-8


  • 2 lbs carrots, cut into 1/2-in strips
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian Seasoning
  • Salt and Pepper to taste

Step 1. Steam or boil carrots until fork tender. I used my rice cooker that comes with a steam basket (here’s the new and improved version that’s super inexpensive) and left the carrots unpeeled, but you can certainly peel them first if you want.

Step 2. Add butter and stir into hot carrots until completely melted. Add Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper to taste.

Step 3. Enjoy!
