You do not need much for this DIY cow costume. It is a simple base layer plus a few craft supplies.

Supplies You’ll Need for a DIY Cow Costume

Step 1: Cut and Attach the Belly Patch

Start by cutting a large oval from pink felt for the belly patch of your DIY cow costume. Lay the white jumpsuit out flat on the floor and position the oval on the front center. Use your hot glue gun to glue the patch directly to the jumpsuit, pressing firmly so it stays in place.

Step 2: Cut and Attach the Spots

Cut several irregular shapes from the black felt to make the cow spots. Vary the sizes and shapes so they look natural. Don’t stress about making them perfect. Place them randomly on the jumpsuit, making sure to cover both the front and back. Glue each spot down, pressing as you go to make sure they stick well. This is where your DIY cow costume really starts to take shape.

Step 3: Make the Cow Mask

For the mask, start by cutting the top half of the cow’s face from white felt. Then, cut a rounded pink oval for the snout and glue it to the bottom of the white piece.

Adding the Ears

For the ears, cut two ear shapes from black felt. Then cut slightly smaller ear shapes from white felt, followed by even smaller pieces from pink felt. Stack the pink piece on top of the white piece, and the white piece on top of the black piece. Glue the layers together, then glue each ear to the back of the mask.

Eye Holes, Nose Holes, and Spot

Next, cut out eye holes (Tip: check where your kids’ eyes will sit behind the mask first), followed by nose holes. Cut out a black spot from felt and glue it to one side of the mask for extra cuteness.

Attach the Elastic

Cut a piece of elastic to fit around the head comfortably. Glue each end to the back of the mask so it can be worn securely. Now your mask is ready to wear.
