Ingredients

  • 1 lb fresh green beans, washed and trimmed

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 1 tablespoon butter

  • 1–2 cloves garlic, finely diced or pressed

  • 1½ teaspoons salt (or to taste)

  • 1 teaspoon dried basil

  • ½ teaspoon sugar

  • ⅛ teaspoon black pepper

  • ¼ cup boiling water

Instructions

  • Sauté Garlic: In a large frying pan over medium heat, add olive oil, butter, and garlic. Sauté for about a minute until fragrant.

  • Add Green Beans: Remove the garlic and set aside. Add the green beans to the pan along with salt, basil, sugar, pepper, and boiling water. Stir to combine.

  • Cook: Cover the pan and cook on medium heat for 15–20 minutes, or until the beans are tender.

  • Serve: Transfer the green beans to a serving dish and top with the reserved sautéed garlic.
